Net Worth Update #60: February 2021

Wow! This marks my 60th post, or my 5th year blogging. I really haven’t done a whole lot with it, but my adding a little bit once in a while over 5 years, there’s a decent amount of random content on this blog.

Yes, the SEO could use some work. So could the graphics and the writing style. But I’m pretty happy with how it’s come along and the way it’s allowed me to connect to people.

Last year, some of my real estate clients told me they chose me because they follow my blog and felt like they knew me. Thanks for following along and trusting me with your home purchase/sale.

February is usually a busy month for me. My son turned 6 last week and my wife turns 35 next week. We had a good time celebrating my son’s birthday multiple times with family and friends. He’s really into My Neighbor Totoro this year, so that was the theme. We asked him what he wanted to eat for his birthday, and he said Popeyes. We had sushi for dinner, which is another one of his favorites.

I’ve continued to run 3-4 times/week and am seeing my weight come down slowly. I’m still eating badly, but have still been able to make progress. I’m down to 167.4 lbs from 172.6 lbs over the past ~50 days, so I’ve lost about 1 lb per 10 days.

I’ve begun my 6th class of the 7 for the UVA CFP program. I’m taking income tax planning this semester. It doesn’t really teach you about filing taxes. It’s a broader overview of things and relates more to the financial planning aspect (wealth management) of income tax. I file my own taxes and help my parents with theirs, so it’s still helpful.

I wanted to start doing just the TTM (trailing twelve months), but I’ll do the past 5 years since it’s the 5th anniversary of my blog. It’s pretty cool to see the slow but steady progress over the years.
